Colombia has ordered six Mil Mi-17-1V helicopters from Russian state arms agency Rosoboronexport. It is the second time in four years that Colombia has turned to Russia for troop-lift helicopters, having previously acquired 10 Mi-17s.The South American country has also received significant numbers of utility helicopters from the USA, which like the Mi-17s, are principally used on anti-drugs missions. Arms deals are expected to be on the agenda during the visit of Colombian foreign minister Guillermo Fernandez de Soto to Moscow this week.
