Bombardier business jet maintenance centre Comlux Aviation Services and BHE & Associates have achieved US Federal Aviation Administration supplemental type certification of Aircell's wireless router for the Bombardier Challenger 600 series family of aircraft.
Indianapolis-based Comlux Aviation Services, part of Swiss business aviation services company Comlux, says it completed installation and testing of the first two STCs for a Challenger operator in the north-east USA. Bob Hurley, of BHE & Associates of San Antonio, provided the engineering and co-ordinated with the FAA.
BHE is the point of contact for purchase of the STC, which is available immediately, supplied through authorised Aircell dealers.
"The successful certification of the wireless router will allow our customers the freedom to connect with a true high-speed service anywhere in the cabin," says Comlux Aviation Services vice-president of sales Jim Huntoon, who describes the integrated installation as "virtually invisible - passengers can simply use their wi-fi and never have to think about it".
