An Air France Aerospatiale/British Aerospace Concorde supersonic airliner will attempt to break the round-the-world speed record of 36h 8min 34s, set by a Gulfstream IV in February 1988. The Concorde will leave New York JFK International at midday on 15 August, with a return planned for 2044 the next day, after 32h and 40min.
