This year's show marks the 30th anniversary of tri-national consortium Panavia, founded in 1969 as prime industrial contractor for the MRCA - later Tornado - programme.
The three partners of today, Alenia, British Aerospace and DaimlerChrysler, and the Tornado industry have in many ways become a model of pan-European co-operation.
Panavia has paved the way on standardising engineering, management, operational and maintenance procedures across Europe.
Needless to say the company is not spending too much time looking back three decades but is steeling itself for the ongoing enhancement of fleets in Britain, Germany and Italy.
