Indonesian search and rescue authorities are hunting for an ATR 42-300 turboprop which has lost contact during a regional service in Papua.
The country’s rescue agency Basarnas states that the Trigana Air aircraft had been operating between Sentani and Oksibil when contact was lost at 14:55 local time.
It is overdue for its arrival at Oksibil, it adds.
Basarnas says the turboprop – registered PK-YRN, a 1988 airframe – had been transporting 54 occupants including five crew members.
It adds that a search operation is under way for the aircraft, which had departed Sentani some 35min before its disappearance.
