US regional airline Continental Express says it could be ordering 30-seat jets as early as August and eventually become an all-jet operation.

During yesterday's announcement that Continental is firming up options on 25 more Embraer EMB-145 regional jets, the airline's president David Siegel said he was "-extremely interested" in Embraer's proposed 30-seater, the EMB-135. The airline is also talking to Fairchild Dornier.

"We think the 30-seat jet has tremendous potential," says Siegel.

The new order puts the Continental deal at 50 firm orders. Siegel hopes to accelerate of delivery of the remaining 150 options.
