THE RECORD-BREAKING sales pace of Boeing's next-generation 737 continues to accelerate, with an order for 30 -600s from Continental Airlines, taking total firm orders of the new family to 423.
The Continental order also includes 30 current-generation 737-500s and takes total -300/ 400/500 series sales to around 1,916, and overall 737-family sales to more than 3,480. Deliveries of the aircraft are to begin in 1997 and continue through to 1999. The aircraft are being added to an earlier order for 737s, which takes the airline's firm commitments to 108.
