A US multi-year contract for the supply of hundreds of Up-Front Control Panels (UFCP) for the F-18 cockpit has been announced by Aero-Maoz.

The Israeli firm, found here in the Israeli Pavilion, has been selected on the basis of competitive price and experience in upgrading aircraft.

The UFCP enables the F-18 flight crew to control some of the aircraft's crucial systems such as communications, IFF and navigation.

The US government qualification approval for the company's new cockpit LED-based control panels has also just been announced at the show.

The LED panels enable design engineers to achieve quality and design flexibility for new or upgraded cockpit designs.

The firm claims that the LED panels offer many advantages over the old, light-bulb based panels; lower cost, longer service life, increased reliability, less heating and thinner panels, to name a few.
