TRW has received a $134.5 million contract from Boeing Helicopters to provide communications, navigation and identification avionics for 14 Boeing Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche helicopters. Aliant's Xwave subsidiary has won a C$3 million ($2 million) contract to develop a navigation training system for the Canadian Forces Bombardier CT-142 (Dash 8) navigation trainers. Xwave is to design, manufacture, integrate, certificate and install a new navigation training system based on commercial off-the-shelf systems. The system will be used for low-level visual and radar navigation, en-route airways and tactical missions. Ericsson Saab Avionics has been awarded a SKr65 million ($6.7 million) contract by Kaiser Electronics to provide digital solid-state recorders for the upgrade of Spanish air force EF-18A/B fighters. CAE Military Simulation and Controls has been awarded a contract by Boeing for magnetic anomaly detection systems as part of the update of UK Royal Air Force BAE Systems Nimrods to MRA4 standard. Lockheed Martin Sanders has received a $225 million, eight-year contract for the engineering and manufacturing development of the US Theatre High Altitude Air Defence System (THAAD). Sanders is responsible for the THAAD missile seeker. DRS Technologies will develop infrared detectors that can operate at higher temperatures to extend a surveillance satellite's operational life by a year or more, under a $1.3 million contract for the US Air Force's High Operating Temperature Staring Arrays programme. Lockheed Martin has selected Aerosonic to provide an integrated multifunction air data probe for the F-16 Block 60s ordered by the United Arab Emirates. BFGoodrich will supply an improved wheel and carbon brake system for the aircraft. Thomson-CSF will supply secure radios and datalinks under a separate $45 million contract.
