Canada's Spar Aerospace has been selected by Malaysian heavy maintenance facility Airod as its main subcontractor for Phase 1 of the Royal Malaysian Air Force's Lockheed Martin C-130 avionics upgrade programme. Phase 1, valued at $10 million, covers three aircraft. Boeing is to provide 55 Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing Systems (JHMCS) for Greek Lockheed Martin F-16s, as well as systems for US Air Force F-16s (28 units) and Boeing F-15s (nine) and US Navy Boeing F/A-18s (39) under a $33.6 million low-rate initial production contract which includes options for six units for Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18s. Lockheed Martin Tactical Systems has been awarded a $73.4 million contract to support the conversion of 10 Royal Netherlands Navy Lockheed Martin P-3COrions to Update II.5 standard. Ericsson Microwave Systems has received a contract to supply Sea Giraffe Active Multi Beam radars for three Polish ORKAN warships. The radars will be integrated with the Thales Nederland TACTICOS combat management system. Saab Bofors Dynamics has signed a €10 million ($8.9 million) deal to supply RBS15 anti-ship missiles for the same programme. Northrop Grumman is to provide 47 additional Litening II targeting pods for US Marine Corps Boeing AV-8B Harrier IIs under a $73 million contract. Smiths Aerospace has been awarded a £40 million ($57 million) UK Ministry of Defence contract to fit the Generic Health and Usage Monitoring System to Royal Navy Westland Sea King helicopters. ITT has received a $13.5 million US Air Force contract to produce upgrade kits for the Boeing B-52's ALQ-172(V)2 electronic countermeasures (ECM) system. The upgrade provides flight-line programmability and increased memory to counter new threats and a third -172 system to correct an ECM coverage gap. The contract includes 12 installation kits and five spares.
