Raytheon has received a $110 million contract to develop and produce the US Army's Airborne Command and Control System mission equipment package which will convert selected Sikorsky UH-60LBlack Hawk helicopters into mobile command posts. The four-year contract includes delivery of 34 systems. SparAerospace is to install commercial off-the-shelf global positioning system navigation equipment in the Canadian Forces' fleet of 33 Lockheed Martin CC-130 Hercules transports, which have undergone an avionics upgrade under a five-year programme completed earlier this year by the Edmonton, Alberta-based company. Spanish navy Agusta BellAB212 and SikorskySH-3 search-and-rescue helicopters will be equipped with Cubic Defense System's personnel locater system under a $1 million contract which includes new URX-3000 hand-held survival radios. Pratt & Whitney has received a $19.2 million contract to overhaul and upgrade 18 F100-200C engines to improved -220E standard for the Royal Thai Air Force's Lockheed Martin F-16 upgrade programme. Work will be completed in October next year. Boeing, prime contractor for the USAir Force's C-130 avionics modernisation programme, has awarded Honeywell an initial $320 million contract, potentially worth over $2 billion, to supply the autopilot and autothrottle, traffic collision avoidance system, inertial navigator and air data computer. Northrop Grumman is being awarded a $19.9 million contract from the USAir Force's Ogden Air Logistics Center, HillAFB, Utah, for F-5 structural upgrade programmes. India and Russia plan to finalise the deal for the aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov by the end of this year, according to Russian vice premier Ilya Klebanov. Last month, the two agreed a technical specification for the ship's modification at the Sevmash shipyard, according to a source in defence sales agency Rosoboronexport. However, they are yet to agree the price for the work.
