The Australian government is to fund a A$25 million ($18.7 million) expansion of Australian Aerospace’s Brisbane assembly facilities to support the army’s A$1 billion NH Industries MRH90 multirole helicopter acquisition. The EADS subsidiary will assemble eight of Australia’s 12 MRH90s at the site and could potentially also complete New Zealand’s NH90s.


L-3 Integrated Systems has received a potential $104 million US Navy contract for structural and other upgrades under the P-3 Orion sustainment, modification and improvement programme.


Boeing is to refurbish 70 US Army AH-64 Apache attack helicopters under the Reset programme to restore the helicopters to pre-deployment condition. The contract is worth $41.5 million.

Under a $5 million contract, FLIR Systems is to supply Star Safire HD thermal imaging systems for ex-US Navy Lockheed Martin P-3s to be upgraded by Korea Aerospace Industries.

Canada’s Xwave is to supply Airbus Deutschland with the aerial-refuelling mission management system for Canadian and German air force A310 multirole tanker transports.

Denmark’s Thrane & Thrane has received a $4.4 million contract from a government customer for 16 Aero-HSD high-speed data satellite communications systems.

American Systems, teamed with Delex Systems and Norway’s Applica Training Systems, has received a Northrop Grumman contract to develop tools to produce courseware for training F-35 Joint Strike Fighter pilots and maintainers.

Northrop Grumman has received a $78 million contract to supply AAQ-24(V) large aircraft infrared countermeasures systems for 22 Boeing C-17 and 10 Lockheed Martin C-130 transports by mid-2007.

Lockheed Martin/Northrop Grumman joint venture Longbow has received a $13.3 million US Army contract to support the Boeing AH-64D Apache attack helicopter’s Longbow fire control radar through 2005.
