■ Northrop Grumman has received a $73 million contract to deliver an additional four Improved Capability III upgrade kits for the US Navy’s EA-6B Prowler electronic-attack aircraft from 2008. ■ Smiths Aerospace has been awarded a $90 million contract to supply major components for an upgrade to around 750 General Electric J85 engines which power the US Air Force’s Northrop T-38 Talon supersonic trainers. The work is scheduled to run until 2012. ■ The US Navy has selected EADS North America to support test activities related to the use of General Electric CT7-8 turboshaft engines to power the service’s future VH-71A (US101) presidential helicopter fleet. ■ Lockheed Martin is to produce a second aircrew procedures trainer for the US Marine Corps’ Sikorsky CH-53E transport helicopter fleet under a $10.1 million contract. The company will also upgrade an initial training device under the award. ■ Denmark has exercised a $6 million contract option with Raytheon to acquire another two AIM-9X Sidewinder air-to-air missiles and 23 captive air training rounds. ■ CAE has received contracts worth a combined C$22 million ($19 million) to upgrade a simulator for the Royal Netherlands Navy’s Westland Lynx helicopters and to provide an AgustaWestland A109 training device for Rotorsim. It will also support UK Royal Navy helicopter training activities for the next five years. ■ The US Air Force Research Laboratory has awarded Northrop Grumman an $8.6 million contract to develop a lightweight active electronically scanned array that can be bonded to the exterior of an airship. To be completed by April 2008, the work will support the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s integrated sensor structure programme. ■ Goodrich is to provide primary and standby air data systems for the A400M transport under a deal with Airbus Military and EADS Casa.
