■ Alenia Aermacchi has received an $84 million contract to provide an avionics upgrade and maintenance package for the Nigerian air force's 12 MB-339A trainers. The deal also includes the provision of spare parts and personnel training services.
■ AgustaWestland has awarded Thales UK a £60 million ($109 million) contract to provide avionics management, communications and navigation equipment for the UK Ministry of Defence's 70 Future Lynx utility helicopters. Smiths Aerospace will supply health and usage monitoring systems and cockpit voice and flight data recorders under a separate contract worth $21 million, while Selex Sensors & Airborne Systems will provide its Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids System.
■ FLIR Systems' Brite Star II has been selected by Bell as the target acquisition sensor suite for the US Army's new ARH-70A armed reconnaissance helicopter.
■ Boeing has received a $167 million contract modification to provide additional support services for F/A-18 strike aircraft operated by Australia, Canada, Finland, Kuwait, Malaysia, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.
■ The Vega Group will provide a through-life training service for the UK Ministry of Defence's Thales-provided Watchkeeper tactical unmanned air vehicle system under a contract worth more than £19 million ($34.5 million).
■ Telephonics is to supply its UPX-40(V) Mk XIIA identification friend-or-foe all-mode interrogator for the US Navy's Boeing P-8A Multi-mission Maritime Aircraft. The company has also received a US Air Force contract to produce its Mode 5/S common-module interrogator.
■ Elop is to supply its Compass electro-optical sensor for an undisclosed unmanned air vehicle system and combat aircraft for an eastern European air force.
