Sweden's Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has awarded Saab Bofors Dynamics a production contract for the RBS23 BAMSE medium-range air defence missile system. First deliveries are set for 2003. Lockheed Martin is to support avionics in over 1,200 European, Taiwanese and US F-16s under a US Air Force contract worth $52.5 million over five years. The combined life-time support contract transfers depot-level work to industry, which has guaranteed a 30-day repairs turnaround. Sweden's FMV has awarded Rockwell Collins a $38 million contract to begin full-rate production of Ra90 secure, anti-jam communication systems. More than 250 datalink terminals will be delivered in 2001/4, equipping fighters, airborne early warning aircraft and air defence centres.
