Thales Defence Communications is to supply its Local Area Subsystem (LAS) technology for the UK Royal Air Force Airborne Stand-Off Radar (ASTOR) ground station integrated communication control subsystem. LAS will be the backbone of the communications infrastructure, using open standard asynchronous transfer mode switching to provide voice, image, video and data links. L-3 Communications' AMI instruments division is building simulated cockpits for US Air Force Lockheed Martin Services Fairchild A-10 full-mission trainers. AMI has completed a validation model and is producing five more units. L-3's Link Simulation and Training division is to lease two Boeing 737s to the USAF for E-6 flight training at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma, under a deal potentially worth over $50 million to September 2004. Evans & Sutherland is to supply 96 ESIG-4350 image generators for the US Army's Combined Arms Tactical Training programme. The $43 million deal includes upgrades to ESIG-3000 systems supplied since 1992. EDO has clinched a $2.8 million US Navy deal to continue development and production of the BRU-55/ASmart Bomb Rack for the Boeing F/A-18E/F. The Royal Saudi Air Force is first to order Boeing F-15C Distributed Mission Training (DMT) systems in a $50-million deal.
