Sikorsky has been awarded a new five-year contract to produce 80 UH-60L Black Hawks for the US Army and another 82 MH-60S utility versions for the US Navy, plus mission kits, support services and equipment, by 2006.

Lockheed Martin Systems Integration Owego has been awarded a $13.2 million USN contract for design, integration, fabrication, installation, and testing of MH-60R avionics.

Arinc has received a $3.3 million contact to provide airborne collision avoidance systems, dual Mode S/IFF interrogators and a terrain warning system on the Royal Netherlands Air Force's two McDonnell Douglas KDC-10s.

The US Congress has been notified by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency of a logistics package to support a proposed lease of six US Army Boeing AH-64A Apaches to Spain. The deal, extending over five years, is worth $234 million. The helicopters are intended to be an interim measure while Spain concludes a planned purchase of 12 Longbow radar-equipped AH-64Ds.

The USA has approved the sale of 40 General Electric F404 engines to India for the Hindustan Aeronautics Light Combat Aircraft programme.

BAE Systems has confirmed that Kuwait has selected the company's Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids System to equip Boeing AH-64DApache attack helicopters (Flight International, 10-16 September).

Metric Systems, a subsidiary of Integrated Defense Technologies, will supply its AM109 and AM105A Cargo Handling and Aerial Delivery Systems (CHADS) to EADS Casa for one year. The CHADS will support recent and expected orders from France, Poland and the USA for the Casa C295 and CN235.

Saab Aerospace has opted for BAE Systems IFS as preferred supplier for the risk- reduction phase for the Maintenance and Ground Support System (MGSS) for the Saab/BAE Systems Gripen. The work is set to start at the Gripen flight test centre in Linköping, Sweden, later this year.
