DRS Technologies is to supply high-speed digital video cameras for Boeing CF-18 weapon separation testing and a Lockheed CT-133 ejection-seat testbed under a $1.3 million Canadian contract. A second, $1.2 million contract covers cameras for US Navy weapon separation testing. BAE Systems is to implement Mode 5 identification friend or foe capability in the US forces' APX-118(V) digital transponder under an initial $3.9 million contract. Mode 5 is a secure, jam-resistant waveform with expanded data capacity, able to pass position and other information. TRW is to define concepts for a tactical, transportable system capable of temporarily denying an enemy space-based imagery under a $15.9 million USAir Force contract for the Counter Surveillance and Reconnaissance System (CSRS). The company will award up to three subcontracts to develop competing CSRS designs. Embraer has selected Smiths Aerospace to supply its Voice And Data Recorders (VADR) for the AL-X trainer. The supply of VADRs for on-order Brazilian air force AL-Xs will be worth more than $4 million. Boeing has selected Innovative Solutions & Support to provide flat-panel displays for its 767 tanker transport. Valued at $10 million, the agreement covers the pilot's mission display and aerial refuelling operator control display. SEOS is to provide a five-channel visual display, with 220° horizontal by 65° vertical collimated field of view, for Lockheed Martin's F-35 Joint Strike Fighter engineering simulator. Piaggio Aero Industries will put in force the recently reached five-year $12 million partnership agreement with Honeywell by starting production of the casings for T55 turboshafts. The Genoa-based company will produce engine parts at its Finale Ligure plant, which is already responsible for the manufacturing and overhaul of the T55s installed on the Italian army's Agusta-produced Boeing CH-47 helicopters.
