Lockheed Martin has received a $27 million contract to support South Korea's Peace Krypton intelligence-gathering system, which consists of four Raytheon Hawker 800XPs modified by the company with synthetic-aperture radar providing fixed- and moving-target indication capability. Raytheon is to build eight SHARP shared reconnaissance pods under a $19 million US Navy contract, while Recon/Optical will provide four high-altitude and four medium-altitude electro-optical/infrared sensors under another $19 million contract. Eight pods will provide two more Boeing F/A-18E/F squadrons with SHARP capability. Engineered Support Systems will upgrade 14 APQ-159(V)5 radars for an unidentified Latin American Northrop F-5E/F operator, under a contract from Derco Aerospace. Cubic's contract to upgrade USAir Force bases with rangeless air-combat training systems has been extended to a 10th site, and is now worth $42.6 million. Installations began in December. Raytheon is to produce 1,012 ALE-50(V) towed decoys for the USAir Force and 300 for the US Navy under a $30 million contract. L-3 Communications is to supply 100 x 100mm (4 x 4in) flat-panel upfront control displays for South Korean F-15Ks under a $7 million contract from Boeing. Under US Air Force contracts each worth $8.7 million, Harris, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon are to demonstrate pre-prototype spaceborne electronically scanned arrays providing ground moving-target indication, synthetic-aperture radar imaging and digital terrain elevation data. Sparton Defense Electronics has received US Navy contracts totalling $21.3 million for 30,636 SSQ-53F passive and 6,303 SSQ-62E active sonobuoys. Undersea Sensor Systems is to produce 10,398 SSQ-53Fs and 4,150 SSQ-62Es under contracts totalling $10.9 million. ITT Gilfillan is to produce three ground-controlled approach radars under a $15 million US Air Force contract.
