Northrop Grumman is to enhance the operational capability, reliability and maintainability of the US Air Force’s E-8C Joint Surveillance and Target Attack Radar System aircraft under a deal worth more than $530 million. To conclude in late 2011, the work will include systems engineering, prototyping and qualification and testing of planned equipment upgrades, including advanced radar and airborne networking systems.

Eurocopter has awarded Saab Avitronics a contract to provide core management and tactical mission computers for NH Industries’ NH90 transport helicopter.

The US Navy has awarded Boeing a $24 million contract to develop unmanned air vehicle control software in support of the service’s P-8A Multi-mission Maritime Aircraft programme. Stork Aerospace subsidiary Fokker Elmo will, meanwhile, provide aircraft wiring for the P-8A under a four-year development contract worth $12 million from Boeing.

Lockheed Martin is to provide over 10,000h of depot repair services for the US Air Force’s C-130J transport aircraft fleet until 31 January 2006 under a $10.3 million contract.

The US Army has awarded Sikorsky a $13.8 million contract to supply flight control panels for the UH-60 Black Hawk utility helicopter until late 2010. The company will also receive $7.7 million to perform Phase 2 of a cockpit upgrade to the US Navy’s VH-60N presidential helicopter fleet.

BAE Systems Information & Electronic Systems Integration will produce 38 combined interrogator transponder devices for the US Navy’s Boeing F/A-18s under a deal worth $6.3 million.

AgustaWestland has received a contract worth around £600,000 ($1 million) to produce modification kits for the UK’s EH101 Merlin HM1 and HC3 anti-submarine warfare and transport helicopter fleets. 

FlightSafety Services is to provide aircrew training systems for the US Air Force’s Lockheed C-5 transports until September 2006 for $17.3 million.
