British Airways Engineering Logistics Centre at London's Heathrow airport is a hive of activity. Each week it handles and ships more than 100 tonnes of aircraft spare parts.

Keeping track of the movement of such a huge volume of traffic requires a complex system. And that system is being demonstrated at the show.

The Emphasys Tool and Stock Control System was developed by Liverpool- based software designers Emphasys Computer Consultants.

INSTALLLED

Initially installed in one outlet in 1994, the Emphasys system has been fully integrated into British Airways Heavy Maintenance division for more than two years.

The system has given British Airways the capability to get maximum usage from costly and specialised tools and to ensure that recalibration, repair and maintenance of tools is carried out at the correct time.

But it's not just huge businesses on the scale of British Airways that can benefit from the system and the cost benefits it offers, says Emphasys.

"Many smaller organisations have equally vital demands on time, control and the profitability of their servicing and maintenance operations. The Emphasys Tool and Stock Control System can be equally efficient in cost savings whatever the size of the company," says Emphasys consultant Jan Cardwell.

Emphasys is part of the Consortium of Lancashire Aerospace delegation at the show (Hall 1, Stand E34).
