Russia's Sergei Krikalev has been added to the crew of the STS88 Space Shuttle Endeavour mission set to be launched in December. It will be the first US International Space Station assembly mission to dock the US Unity Node 1 to the Russian Zarya Control module. The Russian module is being launched in November.

Krikalev will also be the flight engineer of the Soyuz TM, to be launched in mid-1999 to dock with the Russian Service Module of the ISS. He will form the first ISS resident crew alongside a second Russian and a US astronaut who will also be flying on the Soyuz.
