French investigators have repaired the flight-data recorder of the EgyptAir Airbus A320 which crashed in the Mediterranean Sea in May.
Both the flight-data and cockpit-voice recorders had been transferred to French authorities in Paris on 27 June after damage was discovered following their retrieval from the crash site.
The Egyptian civil aviation ministry says the electronic boards of the flight-data recorder has been “successfully repaired” by French investigation authority BEA.
Tests were subsequently carried out to ensure that the recorder contains the necessary data.
The cockpit-voice recorder is set to undergo similar work at the BEA’s laboratory.
Both devices will be taken back to Cairo for analysis of the recovered data. The aircraft, operating flight MS804 from Paris to Cairo, came down on 19 May with the loss of all 66 occupants.
