As a proud partner to Embraer on its new 170/190 family of aircraft, we are miffed by your cover story (Flight International, May 13-19), which attributes our comprehensive systems contributions on this aircraft to another aerospace company (whose name also begins with H).

For the record, let it be known that Connecticut-based Hamilton Sundstrand was chosen in September of 1999 to supply the auxiliary power unit, air management system, electric power/distribution system, emergency power generation and actuation systems.

It represented the first major win for Hamilton Sundstrand, formed in 1999 with the merger of Hamilton Standard and Sundstrand. While both companies were proud suppliers to Embraer in the past, this win demonstrated Hamilton Sundstrand's enhanced capability to supply comprehensive, highly integrated systems.
