European route-proving flights of the Bombardier CS100 have commenced from Swiss International Air Lines’ base at Zurich.
Under the month-long programme the CSeries jet will be operated under Swiss’ regular procedures on services to cities including Brussels, Vienna and Warsaw.
Swiss is scheduled to take delivery of its first CS100 in the second quarter of this year.
Proving flights will give the carrier a “real indication” of the way it will fit into its network operation, says Swiss chief technical officer Peter Wojahn.
The flights will enable the operator to examine its performance at various airports, turnaround times, and aspects of ground servicing.
Route-proving carried out in North America last year involved flights to some 35 destinations.
