Improving sales of Dassault Aviation business jets may force the manufacturer to increase production rates, says its director general, civil aircraft, Jean-François Georges.

Dassault's Merignac plant, near Bordeaux, is producing five aircraft a month, around one-third of which are the new Falcon 2000, says Georges. "The market is beginning to really react to the Falcon 2000, and we are seeing a lot of interest in the Falcon 50EX and 900EX as well," he says. "We may have to put up the production rate - but we are at maximum capacity at the moment so that would mean investment in more tooling."

Dassault took orders for about 40 business jets in 1996, and expects 1997 to be "very active".
