US air-taxi operator DayJet has named Gainesville in Florida as its first DayBase, where aircraft and crews for its per-seat on-demand service will be based. The city is already one of five Florida locations, or DayPorts, to be served by DayJet when it launches in November. A second DayBase will be named later.

Eclipse 500 very light jets serving north Florida will be based at Gainesville Regional airport and will return there each day for overnight light maintenance. The airport will also serve as DayJet's south-east USA maintenance facility.

DayJet will launch in Florida before expanding to cover the south-east USA. In addition to Gainesville, DayPorts will be established at Boca Raton, Lakeland, Pensacola and Tallahassee.
