DEBONAIR TOOK DELIVERY OF ITS FIRST refurbished British Aerospace 146-200 from Marshall Aerospace on 24 April. The aircraft was accepted by Stuart Grieve (left), Debonair's director of airline operations, from USAir's technical representative for the UK, Richard Thomasson. The UK start-up carrier plans to serve European destinations from London Luton Airport from May, using a fleet of five 146-200s leased from USAir. It has yet to announce a route network. The carrier has trained 31 pilots and recruited a further 14 type-rated flight-crew, but faces "a lack of available 146 captains", says Grieve. He adds that Debonair may apply for permission to employ temporarily six type-rated US captains to make up the shortfall.
