Avio has received a three-year, $11 million contract to overhaul the General Electric T64/4D turboprop engines equipping 18 secondhand Alenia G222 tactical transports to be transferred to Afghanistan. The Italian company's deal with the US Air Force also covers the provision of spare parts.


Embraer will deliver technical and logistics support for 41 EMB-121 Xingu trainers operated by the French air force and French navy under a four-year contract extension. In use since 1983, the aircraft are expected to remain operational until between 2020 and 2025.


Northrop Grumman is to develop and supply replacement accident data recording systems for the UK Royal Air Force's seven Boeing E-3D Airborne Warning and Control System aircraft under a deal worth $16 million. The current equipment "suffers from obsolescence and poor reliability", the company says.
