The US Air Force has launched an environmental analysis of proposed operating bases for its Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II fighter. It plans to conduct Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) flight testing from Edwards AFB, California and Nellis AFB, Nevada and maintenance and flight training at Eglin AFB, Florida. Initial operational squadrons will be established at Hill AFB, Utah, Shaw AFB, South Carolina and Kadena airbase in Japan.
