Boost for Meteor
MBDA has conducted a successful third unguided test firing of its Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile at Sweden's Vidsel test range. Fired from a Saab Gripen test aircraft from an altitude of 23,000ft (7,000m) on 5 September, the weapon was used to gather environmental data in support of the six-nation development programme.
Jamaican Diamond
The Jamaica Defence Force is to acquire two four-seater Diamond Aircraft DA40FP trainers under a deal worth around $850,000. The Jamaican government also announced last week that it is to stop sending its student pilots to use Canada's Allied Wings training system, following a recent dispute over increased instruction costs.
