MISSILE SHIELD
Australia's Department of Defence will, within the next six months, complete a study of options for developing an anti-ballistic missile defence capability based around its planned flotilla of new air warfare destroyers.
SYNTHETIC SUCCESS
A US Air Force Boeing B-52 Stratofortress took off on 18 December burning a blend of synthetic fuel and JP-8 in all eight engines. The tests form part of the US Department of Defense's Assured Fuels Initiative (AFI).
