Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) is to expand into the north-eastern USA, under the first combined schedule drawn up since Delta Air Lines took over the carrier earlier this year.

Atlanta, Georgia-based Delta Connection carrier ASA, will operate three daily regional jet flights from Islip, Long Island, to its Atlanta hub, beginning on 1 August. Islip is close to New York, and is due to be served by SouthwestAirlines as the low-fares carrier continues its expansion into the US East Coast market. Delta's summer schedule reflects the integration ofASA and the arrival of Bombardier Canadair Regional Jets (CRJs) at its Atlanta-based affiliate.

Under the new combined schedule, ASA will add regional jet services to five cities in the south- eastern USA. At Augusta, Georgia, ASA will replace one Delta flight with a daily CRJ flight. Delta and ASA together will continue to offer 10 flights daily from Atlanta.

ASA will introduce jet service at Daytona Beach, Florida, with three CRJ flights replacing two Delta flights. Delta and ASA will operate a total of seven daily flights from Atlanta. ASA will also begin service at Melbourne, Florida, with four CRJ flights daily. Delta and ASA together will offer eight flights daily, compared to the present six Delta round-trip flights.

At Montgomery, Alabama, ASA will replace a Delta flight with a CRJ service. The total flights operated by the two carriers will remain at nine daily from Atlanta. Meanwhile, at Tallahassee, Florida, ASA will add a CRJ flight to replace one Delta flight, and the two airlines will continue to operate a total of eight flights daily.
