Denel Kentron has completed the third series of test firings of its helicopter-launched Mokopa anti-armour missile, at the Overburg test range in South Africa. While the first two test series focused on missile aerodynamics and propulsion, the third tested the missile's flight controls along a pre-programmed flight path, says Denel. "What we now need to do is integrate the [semi-active laser] seeker and fire the complete missile," says the South African manufacturer. The target date for this test launch is the beginning of 2000, "-but we are ahead of that schedule", the company says. The missile will eventually be available with a variety of seekers, including the existing laser system and a millimetre wave radar seeker.
