Denmark has received the first three of an eventual nine Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk anti-submarine warfare helicopters to replace its fleet of ageing Westland Lynx 90s.
To be operated by the Royal Danish Air Force, the remainder of the order will be delivered by mid-2018.
Speaking at a ceremony on the heli-deck of a Danish navy Iver Huitfeldt-class frigate, defence minister Peter Christensen said the new helicopters would extend Copenhagen’s reach and capabilities.

It intends to complete the introduction of the new type by 2019, he adds.
Rear Adm Frank Trojan, chief of the Danish naval staff, says his crews cannot wait for the arrival of the full complement of Seahawks and “their skilled crews”.
They will be operated by the RDAF’s 723 Sqn, based at Karup air base.
