The UK's Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA) has competed wake vortex studies for Airbus Industrie at Toulouse. The trials will help towards the design work for the proposed 600-seat A3XX. DERA used LIDAR (laser detection and ranging) to monitor and model wake vortices of aircraft.
