Design optimisation software developed by Boeing Phantom Works has been licensed to Phoenix Integration, which will market the software tools to reduce conceptual and preliminary design cycle times. Boeing's Design Explorer software will be integrated with Phoenix's Model Center design automation tool.
According to Blacksburg, Virginia-based Phoenix, Design Explorer allows engineers to create and evaluate more product configurations than would be possible with traditional tools. The software makes efficient use of simulation runs and computing power to search the design space and helps the designer understand what parameters are important, the company says.
