Dassault Aviation’s business aircraft services division, Dassault Falcon Services (DFS), aims to grow its interiors completion work by 15% next year to compensate for a decline in avionics upgrade work in Europe.

Le Bourget airport-based DFS is the largest Falcon maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centre in the world and last year performed 465 modifications and heavy maintenance checks. Eloi Dufour, DFS customer services director, says this total is forecast to drop this year to around 415, despite an increase in the global Falcon fleet, largely due to the successful implementation of recent avionics upgrades.

The company is to launch a market study on new in-flight entertainment (IFE) options in a bid to raise interior completions work by 15% to compensate for the shortfall from next year, says Dufour. “We’re investing money into these studies because customers tend to install new IFE equipment at the same time as heavy maintenance, so it makes sense for us to grow this activity,” he says.
