Diamond Aircraft has installed a fixed-pitch propeller on its four-seat, low-wing Diamond Star in response to requests from flight schools. The aircraft, dubbed Diamond Star FP, has lower purchase and operating costs. The Diamond Star FP is powered by a carburetted Lycoming O-360A4M 180hp (135kW) engine turning a fixed-pitch Sensenich metal propeller. The DA40 Diamond Star features the fuel-injected Lycoming IO-360 180hp engine, hydraulic propeller governor, and an MT or Hartzell constant-speed propeller.

Diamond has received a £3 million ($5 million) order from UK pilot training provider Cabair for DA-40TDis and DA-42s. Deliveries will begin immediately.
