Israel's Elbit Systems is to supply digital map systems for Eurocopter Super Puma Mk1 helicopters used by the Swiss air force.

The contract calls for the supply and integration of digital maps for 12 helicopters, as well as ground support equipment needed for operation and maintenance.

Joseph Ackerman, president and CEO of Elbit Systems, says: "The new contract represents an important breakthrough for the company. It's recognition of our systems' technological superiority."

The digital maps installed in the Super Puma Mk1s will present the pilot with flight data including navigation, obstacles, topographical maps, aerial and satellite photographs.
