Dowty Aerospace of the UK has signed a contract worth approximately £7.5 million ($11.7 million) with Saab Military Aircraft for a health monitoring system on the Gripen.

The new system improves survival, should inflight damage occur to the fuel system, by constantly monitoring the aircraft's fuel flow and automatically shutting down the flow through that part of the system if a leak is detected.
