SPOT STARTS

Egyptian aviation services company Spot Air (stand E740)is making its debut at the show, highlighting the services it offers to airlines and business jet operators in the Gulf region. Spot Air last year performed more than 150 VIP flights using its business jet fleet. "We welcome visitors to come and meet with us and discuss how we can mutually work together and develop new growth in the region," says Mohamed Hamed, Spot Air chief executive.


A TEAM LAUNCHES

Air India's Mumbai engine overhaul facility and Sharjah, UAE-based Aerostar Asset Management have launched at the show an engine maintenance, repair and overhaul venture branded "The A Team". Directed initially at the Middle East market, the strategic alliance will provide engine repair and management services to airlines in the region. A Team will use the existing engine overhaul facilities of Air India at Mumbai and the marketing set up of Aerostar in the Middle East .The alliance will sell repair services for jet engines such as the General Electric CF6 and GE90, Pratt & Whitney PW4000 series and CFM International CFM56.


AVRO DEBUT

BAE Systems is displaying its Avro Business Jet (ABJ) at the Dubai show for the first time at the show. The ABJ on the static park is an RJ70 delivered in late 2008 to Bulgaria Air after conversion at Inflite Engineering Services at London Stansted airport. It features an interior designed by Design Q of the UK, and the aircraft is operated on behalf of the airline's parent company, the Varna-based diversified industrial group TIM.
