Honeywell announced at the show yesterday that the company has upgraded its traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS) to incorporate the Change 7.1 software standard. The company is also the first to offer a traffic computer which includes automatic dependent surveillance - broadcast technology, providing pilots with previously unavailable air traffic information using ADS-B-enhanced hybrid surveillance. "Airlines can upgrade now with Honeywell, avoiding an expensive upgrade later and staying ahead of possible regulatory actions, says T K Kallenbach, Honeywell vice-president of product management. Global aviation authorities are considering whether to mandate Change 7.1 software in place of TCAS Change 7.0.
