Kuwaiti aircraft management specialist Aviation Lease and Finance Company (ALAFCO) has selected General Electric GEnx engines for the remainder of its Boeing 787 aircraft, meaning the whole fleet will be GEnx-equipped.
ALAFCO has 22 787s on order. It had previously selected GEnx engines for the first 12 but had not disclosed a choice for the remaining 10 twin-jets.
GE has revealed the GEnx agreement during the Dubai air show 13 November. It means that it will supply the powerplants for the whole of ALAFCO’s 787 fleet.
ALAFCO is planning to supply 787s to Oman Air. The lessor had intended to lease a batch of 787s to Kuwait Airways before a fleet-renewal deal fell through.
