Saleh Saeed, who owns Fighter Gifts knows his models are accurate replicas – his day job is flying a Dassault Mirage 2000 as a pilot with the UAE Air Force.

Fighter Gifts is his sideline, but the company has grown in the past three years into a major supplier of wood and resin aircraft models and gifts in the region. “We can even supply models in pure silver and custom designs in any scale up to full size,” Saleh says.

The company has outlets in Dubai’s Festival City and Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi, but the models are manufactured in the Far East. He says: “Our company is the biggest manufacturer of resin and glass reinforced plastic plane models in China.” Fighter Gifts specialises in bespoke designs for aircraft companies and air forces around the world.

“We work from highly-accurate three-dimensional drawings to prepare cardboard patterns or jigs to the desired scale. These are then used to create the moulds. The final detailing is done by hand to the customer’s exact specification,” he says.
