India will stage its first civil airshow next year at Hyderabad Airport, it was announced at the show yesterday.

India Aviation 2008 will take place from October 15-18. It will be organised by the country’s Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. International promotion of the event will be handled by Farnborough International, organiser of the UK Farnborough Airshow, which already helps in the organisation of India’s defence airshow at Bangalore.

A conference on Indian aviation and a CEOs’ forum will be organised in parallel with the show. The event will tap into the current boom in India’s civil aviation sector. In 2006-7, aircraft movements and passenger traffic grew by 27% and recent years have seen a cluster of new privately-owned airline joining Jet Airways and Air Sahara.
