Lufthansa Technik will carry out world’s first VIP version of the Boeing 747-8, for a client in the Gulf region. “We’re in good shape to move to contract soon,” says August Henningsen, chairman of the Hamburg-based completions and MRO provider. “Boeing has now sold six VIP 747-8s, so we see this aircraft as a major future opportunity for us.”

The aircraft is due to arrive in Hamburg in the first quarter of 2011 and to be delivered to the client 18 months. “The value of the contract depends on the configuration and the interior, the last details of which are now being negotiated,” Henningsen says.
