The Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has taken the lead in signing up for the first Middle East aviation pavilion to be mounted at an international airshow.

The pavilion making its debut at next year's Farnborough International airshow, managed by Dubai airshow organiser Fairs and Exhibitions (F&E), is aimed at promoting the Middle East aerospace and aviation industry internationally.

DCA president HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum says: "This is an excellent initiative which will demonstrate internationally the increasing role the Middle East is now playing in the global aerospace industry. The pavilion allows the Department of Civil Aviation Dubai to present its expansion, facilities and services to a wide audience of international industry professionals."

Response to the pavilion has been good, says Alison Weller, project manager, Aerospace Group, F&E. Additional signings were expected following Dubai 2003.

This initiative could lead to similar pavilions being set up at leading airshows such as Singapore, Paris and China as well as at market-related events such as the European Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition in Geneva.
