UAE's low-cost carrier Flydubai is "very intensively looking at" the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 Max as possible additions to or replacements for its 29 Boeing 737-800s on order.

Chief executive Ghaith al-Ghaith describes both revamped narrowbodies as "gamechangers" and said the no-frills airline would "make a judgement as soon as possible".

Flydubai, which began operations in 2009 and serves 46 routes from Dubai, has a fleet of 21 Boeing 737-800s as part of an order for 50 of the type placed at the 2008 Farnborough air show.

Al-Ghaith said he "would not rule out" operating a combined Airbus/Boeing fleet.
