Russian state technology company Rostec is using the Dubai air show to further its push into the Middle East for its range of civil and military hardware.
During the show, the company is displaying a number of products of its subsidiaries to potential buyers in the region, including the Kamov Ka-52 attack helicopter, the MiG-29 multirole fighter jet and the Pantsyr-S1 missile defence system.
“We intend to further expand our presence in the Middle East and we would be happy to offer our services across a number of projects to our partners. Rostec has a wide range of innovative technologies that are in demand in the region,” says Rostec chief executive Sergey Chemezov.
But the highlight of the show is the mutirole Sukhoi Su-35S fighter jet, which is equipped with a new avionics suite from KRET and a new engine from United Engine Corporation that allows it to build up to hyper-speed without having to use afterburner.
Several recent media reports from Russia indicate that the United Arab Emirates has expressed an interest in acquiring Su-35s, but to date there has been no official confirmation.
“Taking into account the rapid development of our aircraft engine building technologies, Rostec is ready to deliver aircraft industry products and technologies along with integrated maintenance service for aircraft engines to its partners in the Middle East,” Chemezov adds.
